Coffeegratitude Manifesto

For the longest time, I had my opinions about people that talked about gratitude. I thought living a life of gratitude mean glossing over negative feelings or situations and solely focusing on the positive. Needless to say, I didn't find the idea appealing.

Over the years I've learned living a life of gratitude has nothing to do with escaping or avoiding. To me, gratitude means I am able to stay present, whether things are good or bad, and still be excited to be alive, to be able to experience the full range of human emotions. Even when it sucks; especially when it is out-of-this-world amazing.

I make it a point to make a daily list of things that I am thankful for. Especially the little things: like morning coffee walks, sunshine and bike rides -to name a few. But more importantly, I'm grateful for the daily reminders that life is what we make of it.
